The Frame is Complete
The reinforced concrete frame of the apartment block is now finished, a significant milestone that marks the end of an intensive structural programme spanning multiple levels. The frame has risen from the excavated basement through to the uppermost level, and the attention of the structural team now passes to the next trades. Scaffolding is being erected around the building to enable external works to begin, and first fix mechanical and electrical installation is set to commence in the basement level.

The Houses Take Shape
All four houses are now at advanced stages of construction. On plots 23 and 24, masonry is nearing completion and scaffolding is in place, with roof construction about to begin. On plots 21 and 22, the reinforced concrete frame is complete and blockwork has been underway since May, following closely behind. Both pairs of homes are progressing in sequence, with the roofing phase set to bring the first properties to a weathertight shell in the coming weeks.

What Comes Next
With the structural phase behind it, Gannel Waterside enters the stage of construction where buildings begin to read as buildings. External cladding, roofing, windows and doors will define the appearance of the scheme over the coming months, while first fix trades begin their work inside. The site is well into its stride, and the pace of visible change is only set to increase.
