Market Quay Update - November 2025

Construction at Market Quay in Falmouth continues steadily across all zones, with key structural and groundwork progress shaping this complex coastal development.

Courtyard slab poured, structures emerging

Concrete slab and beam work for Phase 2, located behind the historic bank building, has now been completed. This has opened up better access across the site and provided new space for secure material storage. Steel structures are taking shape around Plots 9 to 13, including blockwork to basement stores and ground floor openings for windows. The sea defence wall in this section is also complete, demonstrating the build's resilience to its waterfront location.

Bird’s eye view of the full site, illustrating the tight and complex working environment between the live high street and the waterfront.
New slabs have been poured on the ground floor and in the courtyard, with ComFlor composite steel floor decking visible at the bottom right, ready to be poured with concrete.

Phased demolition paving the way

Behind the familiar front of Market Street, extensive demolition works are advancing as part of Phase 3. Roof structures and timber elements have been fully removed, while beams and columns are now being taken down. A supporting wall in the basement is currently being reinforced, allowing the remainder of the ground floor demolition to progress safely. These efforts are key to unlocking space for new elements, including future piling and heat pump installations.

Our tower crane, now in operation for several months, has helped streamline material handling and accelerate construction across the scheme, while also attracting curiosity from locals and visitors passing by.

Inside the Bank: floors and frameworks

The Bank building is seeing rapid internal transformation. Reinforced concrete walls have been poured and blockwork is nearing the upper ground floor. Steel support angles are now in place and ComFlor metal decking, used to create solid floor slabs, has already been laid and concreted across the future retail space. Next up: installing structural joists that will shape the floors above.

The old roof structure has been removed, waste is being cleared, and further strip-out works are underway.

Power preparations underway

Beyond the build itself, work is underway to prepare the site for long-term functionality. A scheduled road closure will allow for the new electricity supply to be installed mid-November. Once complete, this will enable a full switch to permanent power, eliminating the need for temporary generators and unlocking the next phase of internal mechanical and electrical works.

What’s to come

In the coming months, expect visible changes across both old and new elements of the development. Roof removals, scaffold installations, and basement propping will make way for additional demolition and slab works along the waterside. Behind the scenes, final procurement packages are being negotiated, from roofing materials to window solutions, ensuring quality finishes across every part of the scheme. As we head into winter, momentum continues to build toward the next major construction milestones.
